As noted in Capturing Canada: Historical Prints from the Collection of EY, the firm amassed one of the largest collections of historical prints in private hands in Canada – historical works which depicted scenes and events from Canada and America from the seventeenth to the late-nineteenth century. Now, as EY moves in a new direction of corporate collecting, it has appointed TAG Art Gallery to assist with the deaccession of a significant portion of the historical print collection.
Accordingly, TAG Art Gallery has created this special-purpose website to present hi-resolution images of approximately 80 (unframed) historical prints which are available for your consideration. The website presents the prints by geographical area. (The images have been watermarked.)
In order to view the prints, click on ‘Location’ in the Left Sidebar where you will be presented with 8 categories. To view a category, click on it and you will be taken to the Title Page for the category. All of the images in the category will automatically load under the Title Page. Due to the file sizes of the images, speed of downloading will be a function of your electronic device. Scroll down at your convenience.
To view the Details Page for any print, click on its image for a list of the the following:
- Image Size
- Supplemental Notes – Further historical insights relevant to the print are included under the image on the Details Page for a number of prints.
(To return to your place in the scroller, use the ‘back arrow’.)
Thank you for your interest and please contact us by phone or e-mail (see Contact Us) if we may be of further assistance. Please provide us with the Image Number(s) in the title on the Details Page for each print.
